Last Sunday Chicago saw NITE playing at Beat Kitchen Bar. These guys have an electrifying stage presence and pack a real punch with their blend of darkwave, post punk and synth pop.
With songs that talk about relatable albeit heavy topics like messy relationships, depression, anxiety, and even opression, they manage to be very hopepunk in their message, and you can see that by how they engage with their audience and how they show up to make real connections.
Their tight show had the crowd singing and dancing back to back and, for a moment, escaping the chaos of reality outside. Myles and Kyle, with added support drummer @cavitt_drums, went seamlessly through hits like Inside Of My Head, Good Boy and Price for Heaven, included a cover of The Cure's Burn and played newer songs like Have Mercy, Oblivion and Our Light Will Never Die.
The audience asked for more, so they also delivered their amazing cover (dare I say it's one of my favorite cover songs ever) of Alice In Chain's Would to close off the "nite".
This is one band you must see live.
Openers for the night were the synth/post punk duo Iron Years from Chicago (IL) and dark synth brothers Immortal Girlfriend from Milwaukee (WI) who played amazingly and surprised the audience. Check out their photos below:
